"Lord now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace according to thy word.
For mine eyes have seen thy salvation; which thou hast prepared before the face

The Nunc Dimittis, Book of Common Prayer, taken from Luke 2:29-32.
"After life's fitful fever, he sleeps well."

LODGE OBITUARIES
Bro John McAuley
Died 17th April 2019
On 17th April 2019, Benvarden Lodge had the very sad duty of saying goodbye to one of our elder statesmen, the late Bro John McAuley.
Bro McAuley joined a Canadian Lodge in 1949, and then transferred into our lodge in 1954. He was a member of our lodge for 65 years, and a member of the wider Orange Institution for 70 years. As a token of our respect and admiration, Benvarden Lodge bestowed upon him the status of Honorary Member. We thank God for his many decades of service and dedication. Under the providence of Almighty God, it is due to the sacrifices of men like Bro McAuley that our lodge enjoys its present healthy condition. As we turn to face the future, the Officers and Members of Benvarden Lodge pledge ourselves to continue the work began by Bro John McAuley and others of his heroic generation. We will build upon the firm foundations laid by him and a host of other elderly champions of our Order. They will not be forgotten. We will honour their memory and we will keep them in our hearts as a new generation comes forward and takes up their baton. With God's help, blessing and guidance, we will press on and write the next chapter of the Benvarden Story. Benvarden Lodge sends its love, sympathy, condolences and prayers to the McAuley family circle at this difficult time. "They buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house." 2nd Chronicles 24:16 "They... rest from their labours; and their works do follow them."
