A Brief Introduction to the Orange Order
The Orange Order has a long and distinguished record of Christian witness, charitable work, service to others, mutual aid, cultural engagement and community involvement.
We stand for freedom - and the cause of civil and religious liberty for all.
We are a Bible-based, community organisation that believes in the Protestant faith, the British Constitution, the liberty of the individual, the maintenance of the union, the defence of the nation and the promotion of wholesome family values.
Our Local Lodges & Their Place Within World Orangeism
There are 21 Orange Lodges operating in and around the Bushmills area (3 of whom have dormant warrants).
All of these lodges are administered by Bushmills District Lodge No 21 and Ballycastle District Lodge No 23.
Both of these District Lodges (along with 23 others) are administered by the 'County Antrim Grand Lodge'.
The County Antrim Grand Lodge answers to the 'Grand Lodge of Ireland'.
The Grand Lodge of Ireland oversees 1,134 Orange Lodges, 125 District Lodges and 12 County Lodges.
County Lodges are located in Antrim, Armagh, Belfast City, Cavan, Donegal, Down, Fermanagh, Leitrim,
Londonderry City, Londonderry County, Monaghan, Tyrone and (until some years ago) Dublin & Wicklow.
Autonomous Grand Lodges are found in Ireland, Scotland, England, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Togo and Ghana.
Once every 3 years, these Grand Lodges convene for the 'Imperial Grand Orange Council of the World'.
Some archived reports of their 'Triennial Sessions' can be accessed by clicking here and here.
